Mojo Monday Sketch using Welcome Christmas

This card was made for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge, number 156, you can find details here. The set used is Welcome Christmas from the new catalogue, this stamp set is also included in the Bundle up for Christmas promotion, click on the link above for more details. I decided to follow the sihoutte theme of the stamp used and go for a monochromatic colour scheme. I chose Real Red so I could use the Christmas Cocoa dsp and Mistletoe Ribbon from the promotion. The greeting is stamped using a Real Red marker and comes from the Gifted stamp set. The ribbon bow was made using a ribbon strip folded over and stdown with Snail adhesive, the central point was made by wrappping a crystal brad around the centre of the ribbon.

Live Your Dream is my favourite Stampin' Up! set, so I'm gutted this set is on the Last Chance List, the large flower stamp is just lovely. Bye Bye Little Truck

I'm really sad that Loads of Love and its Accessories set are on the retired list, after my starter kit, these two sets were in my first order two years ago. This is a set I won't part with so you may still see it on here, if you don't own then don't miss this last chance, its such a versatile set. For this card the little truck was stamped with Stazon and coloured with Watercolour Wonder Crayons using the aquapainter. The patterned paper is from the Cottage Wall set, which is also retiring at the end of the month. Email at stampinwithjo@hotmail.com to place your order today.

I then stamped Happy Birthday from the SAB stamp set Vintage Labels and punched out with the 1 3/8" circle, along with two more white circles. I then punched three scallop circle in Rich Razzleberry and fixed the white circle to the centres. The butterflies I punched out earlier were stuck down the centres with a little tombow glue, as they as not completely stuck down the card has some depth.

Firstly the new 2010 Mini Catalogue has launched and it is lovely, I am seriously loving the Sweet Pea dsp and the Stitched felts. To take a look just click on the link in my sidebar. Remember you can order from me at anytime, just email me at stampinwithjo@hotmail.com to place your order.

Secondly.....we are getting NEW colours!!! I am so excited about this I don't know how I'll mange to wait until October when they are released for sale. The whole colour families have undergone a Colour Renovation are are now called Collections in Brights, Neutrals, Regals and Subtles..just take a look at these.....

Marina Mist and Rich Razzleberry look gorgeous!! As you can see the neutrals are now part of the Collections ...Kraft has been renamed Crumb Cake, yummy. There are ten colours in each collections instead of ten, leaving with 40 core colours. However we are also getting IN Colours which they have had in America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, so we will also get an extra 5 colours, which are still a surprise until they are released. These colours will stay with us for two years unlike the current In Colours which retire after just one year. Next summer, we will get a further set of 5 new In Colours, meaning we will always have 50 colours to play with.

You make have noticed from the chart above that some colours are missing, these have been retired to make way for the new colours.

I know many of you may some of your current favourites on here, I for one will be sad to see Sage Shadow and Taken with Teal go, but we all still have six months with these lovely colours so there is plenty of time to stock up on your favourites and just think of all the new favourites you will have in October. Thanks for reading all this if you made it to the bottom!!

Tractor Birthday Card

It is my partner's dad's birthday on Monday and this is the card I have made for him as he likes vintage tractor's. I have been informed by my partner that it's not the right tractor, but they're all the same to me...it's the right colour anyhow. The main image was created by brayering a background of Certainly Celery, I'm not great at brayering but practice makes perfect as they say, so should maybe make some more. The image was then stamped in black and coloured with SU markers in Ruby Red. The grass tufts are stamped in Certainly Celery. The background was made by stamping the wellie stamp (from the sadly retired Scene in a Garden set) in distress ink in Old Paper on Very Vanilla cardstock. These were matted onto Chocolate Chip cardstock. The greeting embellishment is stamped in Chocolate Chip and is from the Vintage Labels set. The pewter frame comes from a Hodgepodge Hardware set, which again has retired in this colour. Thats all for now, hope he likes the card!

Happy Moments set of Four

This little set of cards was made using the Happy Moments set which one of the sale-a-bration freebie sets, although sale-a-bration is now over I thought I'd still show these cards, as like many of you with this set I'm still playing. The background pattern was created using a stamp from the Circle Circus set, a great one for backgrounds and accents. The focal images and sentiments come from Happy Moments, there are two cards with "thank you" as the greeting and two with "Happy Birthday". The colour combinations for each card are: Rose Red and Pretty in Pink, Ballet Blue and Bashful Blue, Old Olive and Certainly Celery, Perfect Plum and Pale Plum. I think my favourite is the green version as I just love the bird in a cage stamp.

Diamond Top Card

Today I decided top have a go at the Diamond Top card style. I chose to use an A5 sheet as the base card. I got my instructions from a dvd which I own. The card was cut so it was 14cm in width instead of 15cm. Then fold your piece of card in half and score with a bone folder. Score a line across the folded card at 7cm. Fold this top area both ways to create a deep scoreline. Next mark 9cm on the spine of your card and 12cm at the opening side. Score a line across both of these points. Then fold this score line bothways. Your diamond should now appear if you push both ends inwards. For the base of my card I used Blush Blossom and matted with Pretty in Pink. The images are from the Out of the Box level 1 hostess set and they were stamped in Regal Rose. The greeting comes from Nursery Necessities.

Monday 8 March 2010
